Yes, I see the pints/day difference: 70 pints/day for the Compact 2, and 63 pints/day for the Compact Air Plus. There are some other differences that, maybe errantly, made me think the Compact Air Plus was better; notably CFM, warranty, and filter.
What is the importance of the CFM difference? I see the Compact Air Plus has higher CFM (190 vs. 150). I suspect you'll tell me that pints/day is simply more important.
I also like the two-year warranty on the Compact Air Plus.
It turns out both units are available at that site for $999. Nice.

You have anticipated my response exactly :). Each unit is a complete package and the key issue is water extraction capacity.
The other points you raise are entirely valid and your choice is a matter of personal preference. I have no reservations about either model but stand by my view that the Compact 2 is better value for money.
